Getting Out of a Gang                               Is Someone You Love Involved In Gangs?

Left Alive
is here to serve people of pain. One group of people who have pain are individuals associated with street gangs.

This page is dedicated to provide you with additional information regarding gangs and also direct you to the sites of entities who work to curtail individuals away and/or out from gang involvement.

Statistics

It is estimated that approximately 785,000 gang members and 26,500 gangs were active in the United States in 2006.

Most cities with populations over 100,000 experienced one or more gang homicides during the year.

High school dropouts are 3.5 times more likely than high school graduates to be arrested, and more than 8 times as likely to be incarcerated.

Across the USA, 68% of state prison inmates do not receive a high school diploma.

A 10% point increase in graduation rates reduces murder and assault rates by about 20%, which would prevent 500 murders and over 20,000 aggravated assaults in California each year.

At more than 100 of California’s 1,000 high schools, the majority of these students are not expected to gradate.

Nationally, nearly 50% of African-American and nearly 40% of Latino youth attend high schools in which graduation is not the norm.

By age 27, at-risk 3 and 4- years olds left out of preschool were 5 times more likely to be chronic law breakers than similar who attended preschool.
